Thoughtful
gesture by Village Health Nurse from sub urban of Chennai reaches care and
relief to a delicate segment during Covid - 19 Lockout
It was a
most heartwarming example of rising to the occasion as Mrs M Jayalakshmi,
serving a Village Health Nurse at the Primary Healthcare Center at Vellanur
village near Avadi, Chennai joined hands with her husband A.Mahalingam, (a
healthcare champion and founder of he TwinTech Healthcare Academy which
offers training and consultation in the healthcare arena,) to provide essential
items like rice and fresh vegetables to expectant mothers from the economically
weaker sections of society.
As a
Village Health Nurse serving in the region in terms of creating awareness
on cleanliness, personal hygiene and nutrition for many years apart from
her regular Mother and Child care work, PICME, RCHID, Immunization, etc Mrs
Jayalakshmi realized that short supply of essential commodities like rice and
vegetables during the lockdown could badly affect the nutritional needs of
pregnant mothers who need extra supplements during this critical phase.
The
socially conscious couple braved the heat and inhospitable terrain to deliver
the much needed essentials to pregnant women residing in the villages
of New Vellanur, Kollumedu and New
Kanniyamman nagar right at their
doorstep.
