Whats up with WhatsApp??

Whats up with WhatsApp??

The total sway that WhatsApp seems to have over its users seems to be the beginning of all the scary science fiction stories one read about machines controlling man albeit without his knowledge in a not too distant future.

A user friendly interface, conversational messaging style, an optimized CPU seem to give make WhatsApp a killer App, but a closer look at whose time it is killing may be the unsavoury side of the coin.

The fact that it is ‘free’ seems to be the icing on the cake but in reality the cost on one’s time makes it a most expensive/unproductive gizmo.

Let us see what the psychologists have to say on the subject

1.It is dangerously addictive, regular usage could leave a trace and indelible impact on the psyche

2.Creates a virtual, non-existent contact and affinity with those who may not really be close emotionally, leading to deceptive relationships

3.Isolates users from the real environment making them lonely in a crowd and seemingly unsociable

4.The mindset of the day for users is dictated by what they saw or perceived from the App, making it the chief influencer of one’s moods and decisions, rather than the real factors.

So take command before it takes command over you!

Take these steps to prevent from being hooked and becoming a zombie!

1.Space the time between which you check your app and adhere to it

2.Do not have an emotional bonding to it and look at it purely as a communication tool. and Avoid WhatsApp totally at the workplace as much as possible

So when next time someone tells you all about a great new online App in the market being free, text based, with sharing facility for photos, videos, voice mail, Mps and loads of goodies from wherever you are in the world, just remember the lines we learnt as a kid “Come into my parlour said the Spider to the fly” be a smart fly and let your spirit soar free rather than being entangled in a vicious web of your own making.
